Bollywood Stars' Strong Twitter Presence

By Kevin Fernandez

Tweeting has become an important part of stars' daily activities. Celebs have started tweeting in a huge way, finding time to stay connected with followers between their hectic shooting schedules. And the followers are also responding enthusiastically to their screen idols with some popular Bollywood names speaking highly about numerous loyal followers.

Thanks to innovative cell phone technology, fans can't get enough of Bollywood mobile, tweeting any time they want and anywhere they go..

The basic objective of Bollywood tweeting, as one would imagine, is to stay on cinemagoers' radar and try to gain attention always. Twitter is a platform for celebs to announce their forthcoming films, new line of fashion wear, opening of gyms and brand new restaurants. The unlimited freedom on Twitter also permits celebs to comment on social issues and express their opinions in addition to writing personal incidents and movie promotions. Actress Priyanka Chopra advises fans on issues while Lisa Ray has discussed her tough battle with melanoma and survival story.

The late Mangalore airport tragedy had Amitabh Bachachan expressing his grief on Twitter.

Stars of all generations love to tweet. Veteran actor Shammi Kapoor is a big fan of twitter and can be seeing tweeting mostly. He was most recently in the news for asking starlet Deepika Padukone (also on twitter) to spend time with him through Twitter.

One of the biggest Bollywood names to start tweeting is Amitabh Bachchan, who got a fan following of around 39,000 in just three days. Similar is the case with Salman Khan and Sharukh Khan who got the attention of 148,489 and 394,736 fans respectively on Twitter.

Stars believe that any publicity is good for their career. In this celebrity-crazy world, the idea of mobile Bollywood, with the help of twitter has become widely used by film lovers and celebrities to reach out to each other.
