Celebrities Impact on the Fashion Industry in the 80s.

Celebrities from the 1980s were admired for their talent in the film, television and music industries. They were also admired for their sense of fashion.

Royal icon Princess Diana was praised for her effortless beauty and her kind heart. Her popularity among the nation meant she became an icon both for her generosity and her impeccable fashion. Fans were so fond of Princess Diana that they often copied her look. Numerous fashion labels, shops and designers would create pieces that were similar to outfits Diana had worn. This allowed her followers to wear their own pieces of royal clothing. Diana's hairstyle was also iconic and women across the country who admired her chose to have their hair styled in a similar way.

Having gained recognition through his successful career as a member of The Jackson 5 during the 1970s, Michael Jackson caused a storm in the 1980s when he went solo. His skin tight leather outfits, shiny black shoes and white glove, along with his iconic jet black mullet, continues to be a look that is recognised as belonging to Michael Jackson. Madonna was a fashion icon who appealed to the females of the 1980s. Her outrageous outfits caused controversy and resulted in girls wanting to experiment with their looks. Madonna's continual transformation of her looks meant that she stood out from the crowd. Queen were another musical phenomenon, again at the forefront of fashion at the time. Their mullets became their signature look in the 1980s, and today's mullets are reminiscent of the stylish 1980s.

From soap stars to singers, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan's arrivals into the music industry went down well with Neighbours fans. The couple were adored for their hit single 'Especially for You' and they were also admired for their fashion sense. Both characters wore perms with pride, leading to a rise in the number of fans reaching for the curlers!

Many celebrities in the 1980s were stylish. Other celebrities include Baywatch's David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. This hit series introduced the infamous red Baywatch swimming costume. Celebrities such as Boy George embraced flamboyant and camp looks, which involved wearing wacky prints, make up and having long hair. Stylish celebrities of the 1980s are still admired by fashionistas across the world today.
